Despite what is going on right now, I have been doing well working out at home. I have been creating my own workouts using the weights I already have and have had time to do many things I wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
Lately, I have had time to walk, bike, and run on the Greenbelt next to my apartment. I have also done hiking nearby too. What I'm especially thankful for is that I don't have a time limit to workout so I'm often out for over an hour at a time working out and
enjoying the scenery around me.
If you have felt upset about gyms closing too, I understand. I wanted to see progress in my lifting ability. It would have also been nice to be able to apply my new knowledge as a personal trainer with equipment the gym has that I don't have access to. But I realize this might not happen for a long time. None of us know how long gyms and other places we want to go to will be closed.
Because of this, I think it's important for us to focus on what we can do vs. what we can't do. There is a huge library of free workouts online on Youtube, on apps like Fit On, and so many personal trainers and fitness studios are putting workouts on Instagram Live for us to try. You can also still go outside and go for a walk as long as you social distance.
The point is- it is important for us to try new things and focus on what we can do vs. what we can't do. That is what I've been doing lately to enjoy the extra time I have instead of focusing on what I can't control right now.
